A successful candidate will be the Apigee X Consultant/SME who can provide expert guidance and governance, and be crucial in ensuring the successful design, development, deployment, and management of client's API ecosystem. The ideal candidate will possess a deep knowledge of Apigee X, Google Cloud Platform (GCP) networking, IAM, API proxy development, CICD and API governance best practices. Additionally, this role will include conducting regular office hours to provide direct support and guidance to development teams.
Responsibilities:
Apigee X Platform Expertise:
Provide expert-level consulting on Apigee X platform architecture, design, and implementation.
Guide the team on best practices for Apigee X configuration, deployment, and management.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to Apigee X performance and stability.
Provide guidance for establishing IaC for Apigee X, preferably Terraform.
GCP Networking and IAM:
Design and implement secure and scalable GCP networking solutions for Apigee X.
Configure and manage GCP IAM policies, Custom roles for Apigee X access control.
Ensure compliance with security best practices for GCP and Apigee X.
API Proxy Development:
Develop and maintain high-performance and scalable API proxies using Apigee X.
Implement custom policies for complex use cases and meet business requirements.
Establish CICD process for API lifecycle management.
Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards.
API Productization and Consumer Journey:
Guidance on API Productization strategy.
Provide best practices in establishing Application / Consumer integration with published API Products.
API Security and Governance:
Establish and enforce API security policies and best practices.
Conduct security assessments and vulnerability testing of APIs.
Implement API authentication, authorization, and encryption mechanisms.
Provide guidance on API governance, including versioning, documentation, and lifecycle management.
API Design and Best Practices:
Provide guidance on RESTful API design principles and best practices.
Assist in the development of API specifications using OpenAPI (Swagger).
Prescribe the API Proxy templates, that reflect the best practices and standards.
Promote API reusability and standardization across the organization.
Documentation and Knowledge Transfer:
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for governance, best practices, and Apigee X operational standards.
Provide training and knowledge transfer to internal teams.
Stay up to date with the latest Apigee X and GCP updates.
Office Hours:
Provide expert guidance, solution overview, and troubleshooting guidance through regular cadence of office hours with client SME, technical team.
Identify potential gaps and opportunities for awareness and action.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Minimum of 8 years of work experience in IT.
Minimum of 5 years of experience working with Apigee.
Minimum of 3 years of experience working with Apigee X.
Strong understanding of GCP networking concepts, including VPC, subnets, firewalls, and load balancing.
Proficiency in GCP IAM and access control management.
Extensive experience in API proxy, Shared Flow development in Apigee (X / Edge)
Solid understanding of API security best practices, including OAuth 2.0, JWT, and TLS.
Experience with API design and documentation using OpenAPI (Swagger).
Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Experience with Devops practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code.
Certifications related to GCP or Apigee are highly desirable.
Nice to have:
Knowledge of RESTful architecture and API-first design principles.
Experience with Apigee X monetization.
Experience with Apigee X Advanced API Security.
Knowledge of Apigee API Hub.
The base salary range for this position is $131,699 - 197,548, plus incentives that align with individual and company performance. Actual salaries will vary based on work location, qualifications, skills, education, experience, and competencies.
